Building modifications

The money from the NPO pot will also be spent to make Zuyd locations cosier and create spaces where students can meet or work together. In Heerlen, for example, you can now play a game of table football or table tennis. And at the hotel school in Maastricht, you can enjoy your lunch in a super stylish student restaurant.

New look for the restaurant and Earth café at Ligne

Looking for a place to catch up with friends or to do some work on your laptop? Then come check out the Ligne's new restaurant and Earth café! In agreement with students, the restaurant has been pimped into a real lounge with couches, chairs, artificial plants and mood lighting. The planters are equipped with power points so you can work in a relaxing environment. The Earth café got new furniture, making it the perfect place for a quick coffee or a relaxed lunch. At the back of the café there are new chairs with high backrests and armrests that filter ambient noise.

With the NPO budget, we are working to furnish Zuyd and create more pleasant spaces for students.

Seats, plants and a pool table for location Heerlen

A Mindful Nest, a pool table, seats and a wall of moss and plants. That's what students at location Heerlen prefer. Students were allowed to indicate their wishes and needs for a number of modifications in the building. We want to realize them by next school year. The pool table will be in the restaurant. The Mindful Nest is a cabin to unwind and meditate. This will get a place in the library.

Thanks to NPO funds, more changes are planned. For example, there will be additional seating at the location and more plants will appear in the building in the near future

Football- and tabletennis tables in Heerlen

You may have seen them already: one table tennis table on the restaurant terrace and two football tables in the restaurant and in the Atrium.

Want to play a game? Game supplies are available at reception. Leave your student card and take the supplies with you.

New computers and music software for Conservatorium

The Bonnefantenstraat in Maastricht recently got new computers including music software on the 3rd floor. The computers and software were made possible thanks to the NPO funds, a government funding for restoring and development of education during and after Covid. With these funds Zuyd University of Applied Sciences wants to create spaces and realize building modifications that help students meet with each other more easily, invites students to meet informally with each other but where they can also work together.

Do you have any ideas for the Bonnefantenstraat? Please share them with the student council via studentcouncil.klassiek@zuyd.nl

Make-over student restaurant Hotel Management School

Student restaurant Refresh! of the hotel maanagement school has gotten a new color on the wall, new furniture, lots of plants and green everywhere and some amazing black and white pictures of Refresh back in 1972! The past months a small team has been working very hard on this renovation. The new design was created by students, staff and Gerben van der Molen, interior architect and alumnus and also designer of two of the suites in the Teaching Hotel.

‘Gerbne: It was an honor and a pleasure. The goal was to create a space where students love to spend their time from morning to evening, to sit down to work but also relax: one big living room on campus. I enjoyed listening to the ideas and opinions of the students during the brainstorms and include that into the design. They should be able to see their input back in the final result!’
