Student housing

Are you looking for a room in the Maastricht Region? We strongly recommend starting your search as early as possible and following our tips to secure (temporary) accommodation at least 1 month before your study programme begins. Demand for student housing in the Netherlands is rising, and while the situation in our region is currently less critical than in cities like Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, and Utrecht, early preparation is still essential. Read the information below to help you find suitable housing in time.

What kind of housing do you need?

Begin by deciding what type of accommodation suits you best. Would you prefer private or shared housing? Furnished or unfurnished? How far are you willing to travel to campus? And importantly, what is your budget? For practical information about Maastricht student accommodation, check out the mymaastricht.nl platform.

Rent prices

Monthly rent for student housing Maastricht starts around €400 for a room in a shared house or an apartment. Keep in mind that utilities (gas, electricity, and water) are often not included in the base rent. If you're looking for a private studio or apartment, the cost will likely be higher.

Where to start your search

Once you know your preferences, you can begin your housing search. There are several options for Maastricht student accommodation available, such as Maastricht Housing, Student-Housing, private rental agencies, Antikraak and social media groups.

Consider nearby cities

Cities near Maastricht, such as Heerlen and Sittard-Geleen, also offer student accommodation. Check out Woonpunt or Holland 2 Stay in Sittard and the Live @ Be studios in Heerlen and Kerkrade.

Short-stay facilities for international (exchange) students

We offer a limited number of short-stay furnished rooms for incoming international exchange students, available on a first come, first served basis. If any of these rooms remain available, they may be offered to regular international students on the waiting list.

Note: the rental period for these rooms is fixed at 1 year (2 semesters).

Important notice: beware of scams

When using social media or unofficial platforms to find Maastricht student accommodation, please be cautious. Scammers often target students through these channels. Be wary of offers that seem too good to be true. If you suspect fraud, contact Huurteam Zuid Limburg at info@huurteam-zuidlimburg.nl. More info on Huurteam Zuid Limburg
