Exchange programs at Zuyd

Exchange programs at Zuyd

Zuyd University offers a variety of exchange programs designed for students enrolled at our partner universities worldwide. These partnerships are formalized through agreements, ensuring a smooth and recognized exchange experience. If your university has an exchange agreement with Zuyd, you may be eligible to become an exchange student here.

Thanks to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), all the study credits you earn during your time at Zuyd will be officially recognized by your home university. This means that your participation in the international exchange will contribute directly to your degree progress, making it a valuable and seamless part of your academic journey.

Erasmus+ program at Zuyd

Erasmus+ program

One of the main opportunities for students to study abroad is through the Erasmus+ program. Erasmus+ is the European Union's flagship initiative to support education, training, youth, and sport across Europe. This program allows students from partner universities to study or intern at Zuyd, gaining international experience and enhancing their global perspective.

Who can apply?

Students who have been nominated by their home university as part of Zuyd’s Erasmus+ network can apply for this program. The nomination is essential, as it confirms your eligibility for funding and participation in the program.

Duration and funding

To receive Erasmus+ funding, your stay at Zuyd must be a minimum of 3 months. If your exchange includes an internship, you will spend the first 3 months studying, followed by the internship period. The maximum duration for an Erasmus+ exchange is 12 months. This timeframe allows you to fully immerse yourself in your studies while gaining valuable practical experience.

How to apply

The first step is to get nominated by your home university. After nomination, you can complete your application via Zuyd’s online system, Osiris. It is important to submit all required documents on time to secure your place.

Magellan Exchange Network

Apart from Erasmus+, Zuyd also participates in the Magellan Exchange, a unique network of partner universities worldwide. The Magellan Exchange offers a fantastic opportunity for students to experience Dutch culture while broadening their global understanding. Many students choose this path for a fully immersive international student exchange experience that promotes personal growth alongside academic development.

If you are interested in the Magellan Exchange, contact your university’s Magellan coordinator for detailed information. Additional details and application forms can be found on the Magellan Exchange website

Bilateral Exchange Agreements

In addition to Erasmus+ and Magellan, Zuyd maintains various bilateral exchange agreements with universities beyond Europe. These agreements open doors for students to participate in international study programmes at Zuyd. If your university would like to explore a partnership or if you want to learn more about these collaborations, please reach out to Zuyd’s International Office.

Costs and practical information for exchange students

Good news: you do not have to pay tuition fees at Zuyd during your exchange period. However, you will be responsible for other costs, including travel, visa arrangements, accommodation, health insurance, books, and daily living expenses. Planning ahead will help you make the most of your stay.
